Danes eager for Chinese investment

Countless Danish company executives have found their way to Hong Kong over the years - so now Danes are looking forward to Chinese investment coming their way.

Denmark was rated as having the best business environment by The Economist Business Intelligence Unit last year. This is an accolade that Invest in Denmark's man in Hong Kong, Asbjorn Overgaard Christiansen, wants to build upon. 'At the heart of what we have to offer in Denmark is the cluster concept,' Mr Christiansen said of how cutting-edge alternative energy and information technology companies were positioned to benefit from dedicated suppliers, technicians and research and development facilities.

The commercial consul said Danish authorities were eager to assist companies seeking innovation partners and access to European markets.

The section also provides short-term office facilities for Danish businesses establishing a base in Hong Kong hoping to follow in the footsteps of such giants as ISS, the security and services group, which the consul said employed more than 12,000 here.
