Maritime marvel

The Princess Taiping, a replica of a Ming dynasty junk, moors at the newly rebuilt Blake Pier outside the Maritime Museum in Stanley yesterday. It goes on public display today until the end of the month. The vessel was made from natural materials using 600-year-old shipbuilding techniques by a group of experienced craftsmen and took about a year to build. The junk set off on its maiden voyage from Xiamen in Fujian province last month.
