It was a disappointing day for Hong Kong as both Wang Chen (pictured) and Yip Pui-yin lost their women's singles semi-final matches at the Asian championships at Johor Bahru, Malaysia, yesterday. Wang, the top seed, was upset by Jiang Yanjiao of China in straight sets. Jiang, who also beat Wang at the same stage in 2007, prevailed 21-17, 21-16. Wang Lin made sure the final would be an all-China affair when she overcame Yip, the third seed, 21-14, 21-18. In the men's singles, Chen Jin of China also made it into the final at the expense of world number one and compatriot Lin Dan. Chen meets Park Sung-hwan of South Korea in today's final.
