Seasons in Life

Today is my last day of work at Hewitt Associates and I am thankful that I am not the same person leaving the firm as I was when I joined. This has been a place of growth and I have developed a better sense of who I am personally and professionally. Here is a list of my memories:

Being interviewed to first join Hewitt on my birthday, and finding out that it was also my boss-to-be's birthday.

The weekly office meetings that seemed mundane, but were critical for helping us stay plugged in each other's work and lives.

Relationships with clients where I later became almost a part-time employee of their companies.

The many conversations with colleagues on planes, airport lounges, the office pantry and restaurants talking about everything from places to eat, guys and consultant mumbo jumbo.

Leading and participating in projects to help companies to become better places to work.

Training sessions where the objective was to make lots of mistakes so we could learn from them.

For now I am putting away my consultant hat, and moving into the unknown realms of the corporate world.

This brings me to the question, am I the author of my life? My answer is 'no'. Someone else is, and he opens the doors I need to go through, and closes the ones that are not meant for me. For a long time now I have been encouraged by theses words in the book of Jeremiah in the Bible: 'For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'
