Teresa Cheung poised to throw Stone at Bush
Kenny Bee's ex-wife, Teresa Cheung Siu-wai, left Hong Kong because she wanted to make it in Hollywood. Well, it seems her first step is going to be a big one.
The former socialite and actress - her one and only lead role was in Yonfan's loopy softcore 2005 feature Colour Blossoms - is set to be one of the executive producers on a new Oliver Stone movie called W, a biopic of US President George W. Bush that is scheduled to start shooting this month for release next year. Apparently, Cheung helped secure some Asian funding for the project and, according to her website, will make a cameo appearance in the movie.
When reached in California, Cheung confirmed her prominent role in the movie - in partnership with independent Hollywood producer Bill Block. But she declined to speak further about it until it is formally announced and the publicity 'game plan' is decided, within the week.
It's quite a bold and surprising choice that her first production project would be about such a controversial character. Considering Stone is the director, we doubt it will be a love letter to Dubya's presidency. Josh Brolin is tabbed to play the lead, Ioan Gruffudd will be Tony Blair, James Cromwell is Bush senior, and Condoleezza Rice can only hope to look as hot as Thandie Newton.
