A public swimming pool was temporarily closed yesterday because of an infestation of caterpillars in the surrounding trees and on poolside tiles. A spokeswoman from the Leisure and Cultural Services Department confirmed that Hin Tin Swimming Pool in Sha Tin was shut down so the thousands of caterpillars, from the giant silkworm moth, could be removed. They were not in the pool itself, so water quality had not been affected, she said.
