Councillor's wife appears in court for alleged assault

The wife of an Eastern district councillor and two other women appeared in Eastern Court for allegedly assaulting a woman and taking part in an unlawful assembly. Ku Kwai-yu's wife, Tung Oi-yi, 49, faced a charge of common assault. She and two others, Lai Pui-king, 59, and Yeung Yee-ning, 26, also faced a joint count of taking part in an unlawful assembly. The incident took place in Chai Wan on November 18 last year. The three women pleaded not guilty to all charges and the trial is set for July 16.
