Shanghai goes green

Eco-chic is nothing new but the trend has been slow to take off in Asian cities. Doing their part for the environment, Scott Barrack and Jules Kwan have opened China's first carbon-neutral hotel in Shanghai. The hip 26-room URBN Hotel promises luxurious green boutique accommodation by rehabilitating existing structures, reusing recycled materials and introducing eco-friendly solutions to a less than eco-conscious city. Fusing western contemporary and east Asian design, the pair have collaborated with Shanghai-based designers to convert a 1970s post office building. Visit www.urbnhotels.com for more information.
