What does it do? Ever endured a long day of meetings, only to have your laptop battery run out at a crucial moment? Now you can charge your laptop as you charge around the world, with the Voltaic Generator bag.
How does it work? Created by US-based Voltaic Systems, the laptop bag has a solar panel on one side that generates 14.7W of power, which is then stored in a battery pack. Business travellers can do their thing using natural (and free) energy. Sit in the sun at a cafe and discuss work while your laptop charges at your side, or take it into a meeting room with windows - it will even charge on a grey day. A full day of sunlight is sufficient to recharge a typical laptop and adaptors mean you can charge your phone and other devices via a USB socket.
Why was it developed? Rushfaster believes there is a need for an alternative power source for laptop users, to help ease the damage we're doing to the planet.
It already offered solar-powered backpacks for charging cameras and iPods, so the laptop alternative was a natural progression.
Is it sturdy? The stylish bags, which hold any size machine up to a 17-inch Macbook Pro, are constructed from recycled soft-drink bottles (PET) and are shock, water and UV resistant. Your mobile office is further protected by a built-in frame.
