Predictable but worth a ticket

Ashton Kutcher (Open Season, Butterfly Effect) and Cameron Diaz (the Shrek movies, Charlie's Angels) star in What Happens in Vegas, a romantic comedy directed by Tom Vaughn.

The story is about two New Yorkers: Joy (Diaz) has just been dumped by her boyfriend in front of all their friends, and Jack has been fired by his Dad.

As the two lament their bad luck, the friends of both decide the best solution is to head to Vegas and forget about their problems.

The two groups meet in Vegas and after a long night of drunken debauchery, Jack and Joy wake up to find themselves married. They agree to have the marriage annulled and go their separate ways.

But fate steps in when Jack wins a three-million-dollar jackpot using a quarter Joy had given him.

Upon returning to New York, their petition for annulment is denied. The judge orders them into couple's therapy and freezes the money for six months to see if they can make things work.

The unhappy couple battles it out in a constant game of one-upmanship, trying to get their hands on the money, and all the while falling in love.

Though the movie is stereotypical and predictable in plot and outcome, there are enough gags to make you forget you've seen this story in various guises countless times before. And the pair's good looks don't hurt either.
