Maestro's final collection

Valentino After more than 45 years in the fashion industry, Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavani, better known simply as Valentino, bids farewell with his final ready-to-wear collection. In 1962, at the age of 30, Valentino made his international debut to wide acclaim, and by the mid-'60s he was already considered the maestro of Italian fashion. His final creations are vibrant, confident and feminine, from the short red ruffled dress to the sleek white gown with horizontal silver stripes on the skirt. There is a style to suit everyone: a sugar pink chiffon full-length gown with intricate lacing, a shimmering asymmetrical black minidress or a purple and turquoise cocktail dress with silver detailing. Separates include a beige sequinned and embroidered dress matched with a classic white cropped jacket, an ivory and brown sleeveless shirt co-ordinated with a light polka-dot skirt and a multicoloured sequinned tee decked out with a purple miniskirt. Cashmere, linen, cotton, crepe and wool are the favoured fabrics for day wear, while taffeta, organza, lace, chiffon and georgette add glamour to the evening styles. Many items feature signature detailing, including ruching and draping and the much-loved Valentino bow. For his ultimate statement, the maestro has provided an upbeat and breezy gorgeousness for fashionistas to remember him by.
