More than 120,000 people have signed a petition calling for packaged foods with nutritional claims selling in volumes of fewer than 30,000 a year to be exempted from proposed labelling laws, the Retail Management Association said yesterday. The petition was launched on April 25 as part of a survey in more than 500 supermarkets. The association said that if the government did not exempt the products, up to 15,000 items would be forced off the shelves.
