Police find teen sought over dumped embryo

A young woman, suspected to be the mother of a human embryo found dumped outside a refuse-collection centre in Tseung Kwan O yesterday, was in hospital last night after police investigating the discovery found her in a park near her King To House flat.

The remains were in a red plastic bag found on the ground at King Chung House in King Lam Estate after police received an anonymous call at 2.45pm.

Blood was also found in the bag. Police and an ambulance crew were sent. Forensic pathologists and detectives from the Kwun Tong district crime squad were later called in.

Officers with a tracker dog began door-to-door inquiries in King To House at about 4.30pm.

Not long before the suspected mother, believed to be 14 or 15, was found, police said they had found a flat that might be connected to the case but no one was inside.

Closed-circuit TV videotapes from the building were retrieved for investigation.

Neighbours said the girl dropped out of Form Two a year ago and lived with her father, a construction worker in his 40s, step-mother and uncle.

A police spokeswoman said no one had been arrested and a postmortem examination would be carried out today on the remains.

The case had not been classified last night.
