Helped by its massive natural resources, Australia has weathered the global financial crisis better than other Group of 20 economies. In 2012, its economy grew 3.1 per cent, compared with 1.6 per cent in the United States and 1.1 per cent in Canada.
HK$800,000 purse for works of fiction
Hong Kong-based author Nury Vittachi will head a panel of three judges who will decide the destiny of the inaugural Australia-Asia Literary Award. The purse of A$110,000 (HK$806,600) will be given to English-language literary fiction written for mobile phones, PDAs or computers, as well as in traditional book form.
