Wembley hero to headline Soccer Sevens dinner

Lawrie Sanchez, scorer of one of the most famous goals in Wembley history, will be talking a good game when he visits Hong Kong next week for the HKFC Philips Lighting International Soccer Sevens.

The former Wimbledon midfielder and key member of the club's notorious 'crazy gang' will be guest speaker at the Sportsman's Dinner, to be held on the eve of the tournament.

The gala evening - to be held at the Hong Kong Football Club on Thursday, May 22 - is a rare chance for football fans to meet their heroes in person before the Soccer Sevens kicks off.

Sanchez will form an impressive front three, with Premiership referee Mike Riley and ESPN presenter John Dykes, who will be MC.

Sanchez wrote his name in the game's folklore when he headed the winner in Wimbledon's stunning 1-0 victory over mighty Liverpool in the 1988 FA Cup final.
