When Ferrari released its first pictures of the new California on Tuesday, we asked Italian Motors when the fastie would arrive in Hong Kong. 'Expect 2009,' says the dealer's spokeswoman, Sancy Chan.
Prices are still unknown, but the convertible (below) is fitted with a 4.3-litre block with a flat camshaft, direct fuel injection and a seven-speed dual clutch transmission said to generate 460 horsepower at 7,500 revs and hurl it to 100km/h in four seconds. The fastie also has new multi-link rear suspension, the F1-Tec traction control system that wowed drivers in the 599 GTB Fiorano and Brembo brakes with carbon-ceramic disks.
The marque also claims to have reduced the V8's fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions to 310 grams per kilometre. That shows Ferrari is trying to clean up its engines. The F430 spews 420gpk and the Fiorano belches 490gpk, according to British magazine What Car?.
Italian Motors yesterday used a 612 Scaglietti to present the Ferrari One-to-One Personalisation service at its Causeway Bay showroom. This facility is linked to a dedicated 'atelier area' at the Maranello factory where clients can put together their very own 612 Scaglietti detail by detail 'in the same way as they would at an haute couture fashion house', the dealer says.
