Orchestras to hold concert aimed at raising funds for victims of Sichuan earthquake
China Literacy Foundation is organising a fund-raising concert to help children affected by the Sichuan earthquake. The June 5 concert at St John's Cathedral will feature the SAR Philharmonic Orchestra and City University Philharmonic Orchestra. Proceeds will go towards programmes financing the rebuilding of schools, education sponsorship and medical expenses.
Nobel author's works exhibited
An exhibition is showcasing 300 items donated by Nobel Prize-winning author Gao Xingjian at Chinese University. Highlights include part of the manuscript of his best-known novel, Soul Mountain his paintings, translations of his novels and other journal works. The 'Gao Xingjian: Literature and Art' exhibition runs until June 8 at the University Library Exhibition Hall.
Communication school celebrates 40 years
Baptist University's school of communication has launched a series of events to mark its 40th anniversary. An exhibition of photos and documents on the schools' history is being held on campus until October. Other highlights include a forum on communication education in local tertiary institutes to be held in November and awards to be given to distinguished communication professionals and educators in this field. Winners will be named in November.
New avenues of data mining explored
Twenty-five of the world's leading experts will discuss new frontiers in data mining, the science of extracting useful information from large databases, at Polytechnic University on Wednesday and Thursday.
