The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts' Lyric Theatre was royally rocked as the musical We Will Rock You began its Hong Kong run with a gala premiere on May 17, attended by the creators Ben Elton and Queen drummer Roger Taylor.

The audience of music fans delighted in the witty, entertaining show, which includes more than two dozen of the famous British band's classic hits. Fans paid to have their photos taken in front of a rock drum kit with the musical's logo in the background, with the proceeds going to benefit Sichuan earthquake victims.

Singing and clapping along to the music were Cathay Pacific chief executive Tony Tyler, producer James Cundall, Cecil Chao Sze-tsung and Chip Tsao.
