HK wins sex wooden spoon: maybe we should learn to use it in bed

People here, as rocker Scott Hui sings, may be proud to be Chinese. But we may not be so thrilled about being Hongkongers, if the annual Durex survey of sexual satisfaction is right about us. Apparently our lack of interest in sex - and general inability to enjoy it - has put us at the bottom of the world league when it comes to achieving orgasm. Yes, we are having the worst sex in the world. At least we weren't at the bottom last year.

Only 41 per cent of men say they achieve orgasm consistently, while the corresponding figure for women is a depressing 8 per cent. This compares miserably to the world averages of 63 per cent and 32 per cent respectively.

'Hong Kong people are among the world's most workaholic and stressed-out folks. This has caused many of them to ignore the importance of their sex life,' a Durex spokesman said.

Durex advises 15 minutes as the optimal time for intercourse, excluding foreplay and after-sex activities. It also encourages the use of toys and other enhancement devices. Sadly, they are unpopular. Of the ladies who report they regularly 'take off', fewer than one in four uses a sex aid. This drops to 13 per cent for women who report they rarely or never experience the ultimate joy. For men, the respective numbers are 22 per cent and 16 per cent. This may explain why there are so few sex shops here.
