Man of the moment Riccardo Tisci's dark, sensual designs for Givenchy come straight from the heart, writes Jing Zhang.
Mantra was launched in 2004 by two friends, local girl Jill Hui and Shagun Khanna, the Maharaja of Patiala's granddaughter. The pair wanted to create a line that paid homage to the rich culture of India while offering women accessories that are stylish and unique. The 'om' symbol is the line's logo and it appears on a range of items, including belts, charms, pendants and bracelets, either in plain silver or gold or embellished with gemstones. Best-sellers include the logo belt (below left; HK$6,000), featuring a solid-silver buckle dipped in 18-carat gold (choose from white or yellow gold), which can be attached to either a black or brown leather belt. For summer, we love the mini Mantra charm bracelet, featuring an 18-carat white- or yellow-gold 'om' on a black onyx beaded bracelet (below right; HK$700) - buy a few and wear them in a bunch. Also available are Mantra clutch bags (HK$800) - in white or black - which are made from buntal, a fibre from a palm plant, and feature the logo carved into a shell clasp. The collection is available for viewing and purchase at Mantra's showroom at 6D, Winner Building, 27 D'Aguilar Street, Central, tel: 2526 8648, or online later this month at www.mantraluxury.com.
