Six held over drugs haul

Six people are in police custody after officers seized 13.2kg of ketamine and 17,400 tablets of a tranquilliser called Erimin-5. The drugs are worth HK$2.9 million. The arrests were made in a joint operation by police and customs officers in Yau Ma Tei and Sham Shui Po at about 6pm on Wednesday. The five suspects, aged between 22 and 50, were being questioned last night.

Alleged fraudster faces court

A man, 34, will appear in Kowloon City Court today after being arrested in connection with a wedding banquet scam at the Island Shangri-La in December and another case in which a bank client was cheated out of HK$130,000 in Mong Kok in January. He is charged with two counts of obtaining property by deception and one of resisting arrest. A woman, 33, also arrested was released on HK$3,000 bail.

Computer parts seized at sea

Marine police arrested four mainland men and seized HK$200,000 worth of second-hand computer monitors from a speedboat and cargo vessel off Ninepin Island in an anti-smuggling operation. The Customs and Excise Department is following up the case.

7 arrested in customs raids

Six men and a woman, aged 25 to 48, were arrested in customs raids on seven photocopying shops in Shau Kei Wan, Chai Wan, Tai Po, Tuen Mun and Tin Shui Wai on Tuesday and Wednesday. Officer seized 104 infringing photocopies of books, six photocopying machines and five binding machines worth a total of about HK$73,000. The infringing photocopies seized included university textbooks and reference books.

G2000 store targeted in burglary

A G2000 fashion store was burgled and HK$2,500 was stolen from a cash register in Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. Police suspect the burglar used a master key to open the front gate. The burglary was discovered by a security guard at about 7am.
