A golden opportunity is available with a leading United States apparel distributor, which is associated with some of the world's top brands. It requires a highly qualified professional to support the operations of its newly opened Hong Kong office.

SanMar, a family owned and operated business founded more than 35 years ago, wants to recruit a head of quality assurance.

'To support our tremendous growth, we are seeking an experienced individual to lead our global quality assurance programme,' said Renton Leversedge, managing director - Asia for SanMar.

The candidate, based in Hong Kong, will be responsible for overseeing production, quality, the monitoring of factory performance, and factory sourcing and evaluation.

'The role is of great strategic importance and is core to our ability to drive greater value for our customers through improved product engineering, quality and pricing, and by ensuring our products are manufactured to adhere to the strictest of product safety standards,' Mr Leversedge said.

This important post requires hands-on recruiting, development and management of a cohesive team to inspect and monitor the quality of goods. The new recruit will also be expected to support programmes that promote sustainable production improvements across SanMar's supply chain.

'As our Hong Kong office is newly opened, the head of quality assurance will be instrumental in the development of our strategies in Asia,' Mr Leversedge said. 'This role will therefore provide a complex and challenging opportunity.'

The incumbent will walk into a strong family atmosphere at work and an employer which invests heavily in the development and training of its staff.

Applicants must possess technical competence in garment construction and have a minimum of 10 years' relevant experience. Past experience must show a proven track record of working for a global company and have an entrepreneurial capacity to develop strategies to manage a changing international vendor base.

'Outstanding leadership and communication qualities are essential to ensure our product standards and requirements are understood and followed by our team - and by our third party manufacturers,' Mr Leversedge said.

'Strong organisational skills are also required to plan, monitor and track targets, budgets and schedules, and the international team working in factories across the region.'

Candidates are advised that they should provide strong references. They should have the ability to effectively communicate how previous experiences will allow for a quick transition of best practices to SanMar's business.

The selection process will also focus on individuals who have experience working with a diverse and international vendor base, and people with experience in successfully managing and fostering long-term relationships.
