Ex-prison officer fights forced retirement

A former principal correctional services officer is seeking a judicial review of the Civil Service Bureau's decision to require him to take early retirement after he was convicted of accepting a HK$200,000 loan from a subordinate's stepmother who was also the mother of an inmate. Shiu Chi-wan, 53, received a suspended four-month jail term after he admitted accepting an advantage from Kwong Wai-yi in 2003 via an assistant at Stanley Prison.
