Maid's employer held over assault

A 66-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of beating her 50-year-old domestic helper with a laundry pole in a Happy Valley flat at about 9am yesterday. The alleged assault happened when the employer became unhappy about the Filipino maid's work. She allegedly beat and scuffled with her in the Broom Road flat. The two women were treated for minor injuries at Ruttonjee Hospital.

Body recovered off Lamma Island

The body of a 23-year-old mainland man was found off Lamma Island at about 6.30am. A Shenzhen identity card was found on the body. Police said there were no injuries on the body and initial investigation found nothing suspicious. They said it was possible the body had been washed into Hong Kong waters.

Child among five injured in crash

Five people, including a five-year-old boy, were injured when a double-decker bus and car collided at the junction of Salisbury Road and Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui, at about 2.15pm. The three females and two males, aged between five and 53, were taken to hospital.

Vans collide head-on in tunnel

A delivery van crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with another van in Lion Rock Tunnel at about 3.30am. The two drivers, aged 56 and 57, were injured. The tunnel was carrying two-way traffic at the time.

Man found hanged in car park

Police are trying to establish the identity of a man found hanged in a car park in Tin King Road, Tuen Mun, at about 5.30am. The man was thin, thought to be aged between 50 and 60, and wearing a white T-shirt and grey trousers.
