Wang in Thai quarter-finals

Wang Chen is in the quarter-finals of the Thailand Open after a 2-0 victory over Salakjit Ponsana in Bangkok yesterday. While the third seed needed only 34 minutes to beat her Thai opponent 21-16, 21-15, compatriot Zhou Mi, the fourth seed, lost to Singaporean Xing Aiying, 21-16, 11-21, 21-18. Wang (pictured) will now meet Kaori Imabeppu of Japan. In the men's singles, both Ng Wei and Chan Yan-kik reached the quarters. Fifth seed Ng scored a quick-fire win 21-10, 21-12 over Eric Pang of the Netherlands, while Chan beat Andre Kurniawan Tedjono of Indonesia 23-21, 21-15.
