Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has emerged as a likely candidate for Cameroon's Olympic squad that will feature in a pre-Games tournament in Hong Kong.

Eto'o, 27, (pictured) and fellow Cameroon star Jean Makoun, who has signed for Lyon, have been named as overage players in a provisional Cameroon squad.

The Olympic teams of the Netherlands, US, Ivory Coast and Cameroon will contest the ING Cup at Hong Kong Stadium on July 30 and August 2. The squads are made up of under-23 players and up to three senior players. The deadline for the final 18-man Olympic squads is July 23.

Eto'o will be aiming to win his second Olympic gold medal, having played a starring role in Cameroon's win at Sydney 2000. Salomon Kalou of the Ivory Coast and Holland duo Ryan Babel and Roy Makaay are among the other stars set to light up the tournament.
