OVER 500 patchwork pieces were designed and sewn by some 40 schools, 30 companies and social service agencies and parents of handicapped children and individuals - all for a good cause.
Their joint effort helped raise a total of $1 million for the ''Patchwork for Charity'' organised by Heep Hong Society. The work was also aimed at setting the world's longest patchwork record.
''Patchwork for Charity'', launched last June, is an innovative project aimed at raising cash for Heep Hong Society's Parents Resource Centres, by making patchwork pieces measuring about 9 cm by 13 cm and some smaller patches.
Among the pieces received, some of the designs were stunningly beautiful. One of the pieces was stitched by a 77-year-old.
Winning entries will be displayed at the Atrium of the Landmark and the Ocean Terminal Main Concourse from tomorrow to Friday and from March 21 to 23, respectively.
Social Welfarer director Ian Strachan will officiate at the opening ceremony and present the awards to winners.
