Who created it? Pringle 1815 is the stylish and contemporary counterpart to Pringle of Scotland. Launched last year for the autumn-winter season, the line takes its name from the year the main label was established. Creative director Clare Waight Keller, a graduate of the Royal College of Art in London, wanted to develop a range for younger men and women who don't want to dress like catalogue models. Waight Keller has worked as a designer for Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford.

Why we love it: Pringle is known for its fabulous knitwear and the 1815 line has wearable and modern styles in abundance. From wispy fabrics to woolly cable-knit pieces, the knitwear is perfect for accenting separates such as sharply tailored skirts, dresses and coats. The women's autumn collection is inspired by 1930s and 40s fashion, with a palette of grey, blue and brown plus pops of green, mustard and raspberry. Waight Keller's signatures include ruffles, pleats and pin-tucks that are not overly frilly.

Male shoppers should expect updated country classics such as Argyle jumpers, shearling coats, fisherman cardigans and sleekly cut plaid shirts and jackets. The trousers, such as jeans in colours that include red and purple, are lean.

What we'd pick: standouts from the women's collection include a mustard yellow PVC jacket (left; HK$3,000) with cropped sleeves and a intarsia-knit dress with batwing sleeves (below left; HK$2,750).

Where can I get it: Pringle 1815 is available at all Pringle of Scotland stores, including shop 1059, Elements, 1 Austin Road West, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2196 8286.
