Sichuan quota at university

Chinese University will admit 238 mainland students from 24 provinces and cities this year. More than 10 places will be reserved for students from Sichuan , where the May 12 earthquake disrupted the admission process.

Old ID cards on way out

All old identity cards issued before June 2003 would become invalid in December, the Immigration Department said, becoming the last batch of old cards invalidated since the Smart Identity Card Replacement Exercise was completed in March last year.

Fuel surcharges set to bite

The Airport Authority expects rising fuel surcharges to lead to a drop in passengers and cargo in the coming year. Passenger throughput and cargo traffic rose by 5 per cent and 2.4 per cent in June, but authority chief executive Stanley Hui Hon-chung expects this to slow.
