Top tips: feeding follicles
The kitchen cupboard could be your solution for healthy, shiny hair. Try some of these homemade recipes for various hair woes - you can even eat the leftovers.
For flaky hair spend at least 10 minutes giving your scalp a relaxing massage using organic virgin olive oil, which stimulates and moisturises. Comb the rest through from the roots to the tips and cover your scalp with a disposable shower cap or plastic wrap. This will allow moisture to be trapped and penetrate the hair cuticles. Leave for at least 20 minutes then rinse.
Dry hair needs nourishment. Use a fork to mash half an avocado with two or three tablespoons of natural yoghurt. Work through your hair using a spatula. Cover with a shower cap or plastic wrap for 30 minutes then rinse.
To lighten hair use a mixture of the juice from one lemon, a tablespoon of coffee and enough beer so the mixture can be shaken and poured through your hair. Cover again or if you have outdoor space, lie in the sun for 10 minutes then rinse. The lemon and coffee help lighten while the beer moisturises.
Oily or fine hair will benefit from a combination of one part white vinegar to four parts water as a final rinse after shampooing and conditioning. The vinegar will help rid the hair of product and oil build-up.
