Samsung TL34HD

Just when you thought digital cameras couldn't get much better, Samsung has raised the bar. The TL34HD offers a whopping 14.7 megapixels of image resolution in the palm of your hand.

If you mostly view your photos on a computer, the higher resolution won't make much of a difference. But if you like to print them out, and print them big, the extra megapixels will definitely help.

To get a good print, digital images need to be 300dpi (dots per inch), so the maximum size of a photo-quality print is limited by the number of pixels in the image. With the TL34HD's 14.7 megapixels, you'll be able to print bigger than ever.

The higher image capture capability also means higher video quality - the TL34HD supports 720p video (DVD-quality) at 30fps.

One of the TL34HD's neat tricks is the ability to pause during shooting and resume video recording, giving you a single file. This means you don't end up with a lot of short clips that you need to string together with a third party program.

The TL34HD also features an impressive 28mm wide-angle lens with a 3.6x optical zoom by Schneider and a large 3-inch touchscreen.

The TL34HD is expected to hit stores in September for around HK$3,000.

Pros: lots of Mega-pixels, 720p video, pause and resume during video capturing

Cons: limited 3.6x optical zoom
