Jackie Chan made a mess of it a few years ago, but local dramatist Matthew Gregory hopes his new stage production of Around the World in 80 Days will restore some glory to the classic Jules Verne novel.

From his days with the Faust Youth Festival, Gregory has gone on to direct and produce such memorable shows as Oliver! and Peter Pan. Around the World in 80 Days is his latest blockbuster effort and promises a globetrotting theatrical night of circus-style showmanship, 15 original new songs, and special effects.

Gregory's ABA Productions is mounting the extravaganza, which runs from August 9 to 31 at the Lyric Theatre. CitySeen has two pairs of A-reserve tickets (valued at HK$595 each) for the show's opening night on Saturday, August 9, to give away.
