Gay TV channel for people who aren't

Can there be such a thing as too much TV? Not for couch potatoes like us. However, we're not sure how much we'll be tuning into yet another new English station on Now Broadband TV starting on Tuesday. From the corporate suits at Sony who came up with action-oriented AXN and Animax, they've now conjured another niche market station called Sony Entertainment Television. This one is going to have programmes like Top Chef Season 2, Tim Gunn's Guide to Style (pictured) and Lucy Liu's new catty bitchy drama Cashmere Mafia.

'SET programming has a strong focus on style, lifestyle and pop culture anchored by strong female leads,' the channel executive says in the press release. However, we like the subject field of the publicist's e-mail, with bad grammar and all. 'Sony's launches TV channel captures career women and metrosexual guys.'

In other words, it's gay TV for people who aren't. Interesting. It's on Now channel 514 for a preview and HK$30 a month to subscribe.
