Online scrum for Bledisloe tickets collapses
Getting a ticket online for the ANZ Hong Kong Bledisloe Cup yesterday was like trying to take on the All Blacks and the Wallabies together. It was virtually impossible.
But 6,000 tickets were still sold by the end of the day, leaving overjoyed Hong Kong Rugby Football Union officials warning those who still haven't got their tickets for the historic November 1 clash to move quickly.
'I tried to place my order online for two hours yesterday morning but I just couldn't get through as the Hong Kong Ticketing system seemed to have crashed. In the end I was forced to go and stand in line at the ticket office,' said one female fan who wished to remain anonymous.
Allan Payne, HKRFU executive director, conceded there had been a large number of complaints.
'What happened was not unusual at major events. Everyone tries to get through in the first couple of hours and this creates a log jam. Just imagine 5,000 people all trying to get online at the same time. But we regret it happened,' Payne said. 'There are about 4,000 tickets remaining for the public and I would advise those who haven't got one to do it quickly.'
