Victims who suffer abuse at the hands of former spouses or relatives will be able to seek the same court protection offered to couples from today when the Domestic Violence (Amendment) Ordinance takes effect. The law formerly only applied to people who were married or living together. The court can also require abusers to join anti-violence programmes.
