Students paid for summer work after meeting
Pay cheques were given yesterday to a couple of dozen youngsters who had not been paid for conducting surveys for the Institute of Continuing Education. A meeting between about 50 summer workers and representatives of the institute and its polling contractor was held at the Labour Department's offices. About 100 students had told police they were owed a total of about HK$400,000. The contractor promised the rest of the students would be paid next week.
