Perfect summer chill-out
Over the last few years, a number of female singer-songwriters have emerged and enjoyed varying degrees of success. Hayley Sales has already achieved more than many of her peers, writing, recording, mixing and producing her debut album herself in her parents' recording studio.
Introduced to a variety of musical genres from a young age, the 22-year-old American has her sights set on becoming an accomplished artist in the mould of Carole King and Norah Jones. To that end, Sunseed is a musical mish-mash of folk, jazz and reggae.
Sales' music is simple and clean, with most songs featuring a lone guitar with a jazz percussion accompaniment.
What You Want is a particularly mellow track with shades of Jones' Sunrise that will put you in the mood for a lazy day at the beach.
The reggae-soaked Keep Drivin' is a perfect summer anthem, conjuring up images of Caribbean cruises and white, sandy beaches.
Like the smoky-voiced yin to Jack Johnson's yang, Sales has created 14 tracks that are sure to appeal to the surfer set.
Even if baggy board shorts and sand-covered flip-flops are not your fashion items of choice, it's hard not to find yourself distinctly more relaxed with this on the stereo.
