Seven jump or fall from flats; five dead

Seven people jumped or fell from six buildings yesterday. Five of them died.

An 86-year-old man fell from a high floor of King Yip House in Shan King Estate, Tuen Mun, at about 2.20am. He was found dead at the scene. Police said an initial investigation revealed he had leapt off the building.

At about 4.50am, a 48-year-old man fell from Shing Yat House in Kwai Shing East Estate, Kwai Chung. The man died at the scene. His family said he had mental problems.

At about 5.20am, a 49-year-old man fell from Ching Wo House in Tsz Ching Estate, Wong Tai Sin. He was certified dead at the scene. Police said the man, with a history of mental problems, had jumped.

A 37-year-old woman fell from a high floor of Yee Man House in Ho Man Tin Estate, Ho Man Tin, at about 8.20am. She was sent, unconscious, to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Around noon, a 16-year-old girl was found lying outside Oi Lim House in Yau Oi Estate, Tuen Mun. She was sent to Tuen Mun Hospital and certified dead at 12.34pm. Police said she had jumped off the 22nd floor of the building.

A 17-year-old youth was in critical condition last night after falling off Fu Yue House in Fu Keung Court, Lok Fu, at about 6.45pm. He was unconscious when sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Police were still investigating the cause of his fall last night.

At about 7.30pm, an 81-year-old woman died after falling from a high floor of Oi Yan House in Tsz Oi Court, Tsz Wan Shan.
