Legend to return for private gig after singing for Obama

It appears R&B singer John Legend is heading back to our fair city this month. The singer (right) who performed last week for delegates at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, where Barack Obama was confirmed as presidential candidate, will be part of a private Unplugged night at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hotel's MO Bar.

Three Sony/BMG artists will be featured on the evening of September 18. From Thailand, a songwriter named ToR+ will first do a 60-minute set starting at 7.30pm. Recently voted Thailand's favourite artist at the MTV Asia Awards, ToR+ will be joined midset by Filipino-American songstress Julia Duncan.

The night's highlight, though, will be the Grammy-winning Legend, who will perform two songs from his upcoming Evolver CD. He is also likely to play a few old hits and favourites.

Since this will be a private industry showcase, tickets won't be sold. However, you can get in by splurging heavily at the bar. Guests who spend a total or more than HK$5,000 between now and September 16 at MO Bar will receive two tickets to the concert. That's the deal.
