Hard work pays off for young Hui

Form Five student Vincci Hui Wai-sum wrapped up the 2008 Aquathon Series with a comfortable victory in the female elite junior section of the fifth and final race at Repulse Bay Beach yesterday.

With three wins from the five races, Hong Kong's top-ranked female junior triathlete also took the series title with ease. She won the event in 34 minutes and 23 seconds,

'I've been training every day so I'm in quite good shape,' said Hung Hom-based Hui. 'But I'll have to cut back on training in the next few months as I have to study for exams.'

The run-swim-run event was the 15-year-old Diocesan Girls School student's second win of the weekend, as she also placed first in her age group in the AVOHK 5K race at Wan Chai Gap on Saturday afternoon.

Hui Ka-cheong won the male elite junior title in 29:43, well clear of second-placed Lau Long-fung (30:20) and Wong Ka-ho (30:51).
