Respiratory illness hits 21 people

A respiratory tract infection has hit a Tai Po special school, with 21 people falling ill, the Centre for Health Protection said last night. Eight staff members and 13 children at Hong Chi Pinehill No3 School developed fever, cough, a runny nose and sore throat, between Thursday and Tuesday. A boy, seven, and a girl, 10, were in stable condition in Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital. The boy tested positive to respiratory syncytial virus.

Police appeal over missing man

Police are seeking help to find Wong Yiu-chin, 57, who has been missing since he left his home in Tin Kwai Road, Tin Shui Wai, on Monday. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, beige trousers, white sports shoes and gold-coloured glasses. Anyone with information can call 2666 4499.

Motorist escapes injury in crash

A driver escaped injury when his car veered to avoid hitting a truck and flipped on to its side in Tuen Mun Road outside Belvedere Garden, Tsuen Wan, at about 6am.

Teenager hit by minibus

A 16-year-old boy was in serious condition at Princess Margaret Hospital after being hit by a minibus in Cheung Sha Wan Road, Cheung Sha Wan, at about 7.30am. In a separate case, a woman, 32, suffered a head injury after being hit by a bus in Tak On Street, Hung Hom. She was in stable condition.

Pedestrian knocked down

A man, 55, was taken to hospital in a semi-conscious state after being hit by a car in Shanghai Street, Yau Ma Tei, at about 7.30am. He was in stable condition.

10 sought over pub attack

Police are looking for 10 men after a man, 33, and woman, 20, were hit by bottles and an ashtray in an attack outside a pub in Granville Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, at 5.40am.
