Innovation design to be showcased as technology roadshow tours city

The Innovation and Technology Commission has announced details to the upcoming 'Innovation Festival 08'. The event is aimed at boosting youngsters' interest in innovation-technology and design. A roadshow showcasing technology projects will set off at the end of this month with stops in Kwun Tong, Tuen Mun, Tin Shui Wai and Victoria Park. A carnival with workshops teaching a range of activities such as designing T-shirts or assembling robots will be held at the Science Park from October 16 to 18.

Scholarship for Oxford open to applicants

The Rhodes Scholarships is seeking applications from mainland or local university students studying in Hong Kong for a scholarship to study at Oxford University next year. The scholarship will cover tuition fees, lodging, travel expenses and personal allowances. Students with excellent scholastic attainments who are deemed to be all-rounder high-achievers can apply. Virtual classroom project gets funds boost

Global Virtual Classroom Programme has received an additional injection of US$50,000 from AT&T. The programme is in its 6th year and supported by the Give Something Back International Foundation. The free online education programme aims to teach primary and secondary students worldwide about website design. Three or four schools form a team and design a website on a chosen topic before submitting it for competition. Details can be found at www.virtualclassroom.org.

Macau university launches new degrees

The Macau Inter-University Institute has launched new degrees ranging from bachelor to doctorate levels on subjects of communication and media, philosophy and global environmental development.
