Boyfriend or not, altercation hardly model behaviour

It really doesn't pay to lie. Model Rosemary Vandenbroucke and her on-and-off boyfriend Christopher McCurdy found themselves in a mess with the police and the media last week when two eagle-eyed tabloid hounds spotted them having sushi. Their tete-a-tete might seem no big deal, except Vandenbroucke had been telling the press she had broken up with him. After snapping a picture, the reporter entered the Causeway Bay eatery to ask the couple about their relationship. McCurdy apparently began cursing up a storm. He and the reporter were asked by the restaurant to take their argument outside.

On the street, the irate boyfriend allegedly made threatening gestures, then took the camera from the reporter. The paparazzo called the police - and several colleagues - to intervene. Even when the officers arrived, McCurdy allegedly refused to hand back the camera and remained volatile, to the point where he had to be handcuffed and dragged to a cell to cool down.

Meanwhile, Vandenbroucke remained in the restaurant during the entire dispute, making no effort to calm the situation. When the press pack returned to ask her why she has been telling them they had broken up, she snapped back: 'So I lied.' Is she taking image lessons from Paris and Britney?
