Singer-songwriter Ivana Wong Yuen-chi has made a name for herself with her poetic lyrics and angelic voice, but it will be her alter ego on show at her two upcoming solo concerts.

Named after the 29-year-old's latest single, I Come from Mars, the debut concerts will see Wong (below) play her signature pop tunes in various musical styles including trip hop, electronica and rock.

'I would like to show the audience the real me and my musical world. It'll be different from the Ivana Wong people usually see and there will be lots of surprises,' says Wong, one of only a handful of female singer-songwriters in the Canto-pop scene.

At the two shows - to be held at Hitec in Kowloon Bay - the singer will team up with music director Edward Chan and his band, playing some of her best-known pop ballads, such as I Am Really Hurt, Hopes in Hand and (Paris Doesn't Have a) Ferris Wheel.

'Most people may have the impression that my music is quiet and mellow - like I Am Really Hurt. In fact, I'm into a wide range of music genres,' says Wong. 'My songs [for the two shows] will be arranged with different live effects. We'll also select some numbers that nobody will expect.'

Besides her own hits, Wong will perform songs by one of her heroes, Bjork. 'I love her music style, she's a real artist. I like the arts too and want to include visual elements on the set and in my costume designs for the performance.'
