Fellow Hong Kong player Zhou Mi also reached the quarter-finals after defeating Megumi Taruno of Japan 21-13, 21-12. However, Hong Kong's Yip Pui-yin's title bid ended when she was beaten by Wang Yihan of China, 21-12, 21-7.
