If you are a communications expert and are up for a new career challenge then this newly created role is made for you.

A US Fortune 50 employer of choice with global operations headquartered in Shenzhen is seeking a director of communications. Michael Page is handling the search.

'This is a newly created key senior appointment which will report to the vice-president of strategy and systems,' Benny Lee, sales and marketing consultant, said. 'This position will develop and execute internal and external communications programmes for our client on an international scale.'

The company is looking for someone with at least eight years of communications experience ideally in a corporate or internal communication environment. 'Candidates with experience in the banking and finance, property, health care or PR agency environments would potentially fit our client's requirements closely.'

Because of the nature of the role, language and personality is everything. Someone with a high level of proficiency in English, Cantonese and Putonghua is sought. The candidate must also display strong leadership skills and be culturally sensitive, and should also be comfortable when interfacing with senior executives. He or she must also have highly developed influencing and networking skills.

This was a good opportunity for a go-getter as 'the position offers the applicant global exposure, but it is also a challenging role as the team is small so it will be a hands-on position', Mr Lee said.
