Wang Chen's hopes of advancing to the semi-finals of the women's singles at the US$200,000 Japan Super Series ended in just 24 minutes yesterday in Tokyo. Hong Kong's number one player had no answer to in-form Tine Rasmussen of Denmark, the All-England champion, who smashed her way to a 21-8, 21-16 victory. Wang, seeded sixth, had been hoping to make amends for her disastrous outing at the Beijing Olympics where she lost in the early rounds. Hong Kong's remaining hope, Zhou Mi, was safely through to the last four.
