Smell of dead snakes puts children in hospital

Dead snakes seized by customs were the source of a noxious smell that sent 21 primary students to hospital in Sheung Shui yesterday. The children at Fung Kai Innovative School began to complain of an odour at 9am and were sent to North District Hospital for treatment. The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department said the smell was caused by several hundred dead common rat snakes in boxes at a nearby animal management centre.
