Microsoft, the world's largest software company, has put Bill Gates back to work in its global campaign to reconnect with consumers. The firm's recently retired co-founder joins comedian Jerry Seinfeld in a series of quirky television commercials that do not mention Windows. On YouTube (keywords: 'New Family'), the long version of their second TV advertisement finds Gates and Seinfeld trying to fit in while living with a typical American family in a middle-class neighbourhood. They end up out the door and on the road, which is reminiscent of how the old Seinfeld show told a story - several scenes about nothing with an inconclusive ending.
