Trial therapy: Moon Goddess Energy

What treatment did you have?

Moon Goddess Energy at the Landmark Mandarin's spa.

What did it involve?

This treatment is designed to harmonise the body's chakras through a pressure point massage. The therapist first offered me a selection of four bracelets made of stones designed to bring a different sense of well-being. I chose lavender crystal to enhance wisdom and peace. Using lavender, ylang ylang and petitgrain essential oils, the massage started along the spine, using the right amount of pressure, and then moved to the legs. The therapist spent time on my stomach to improve digestion and ended with a scalp rub.

How was the atmosphere?

I was impressed by the graciousness of the staff, to be expected but not always apparent in a five-star hotel. I liked the heated beds in the private treatment rooms. Spa guests can also use the dry and wet steam rooms and vitality pools.

What else?

The therapist explained the treatment clearly and could answer additional questions. Her handling of the towels was discreet, ensuring no awkwardness when turning over.

What were the results?

After a stressful day at work, I was amazed at how relaxed I felt. The calm lasted at least a week; I haven't taken the bracelet off yet.

How much and where is it?

HK$880 until November; Oriental Spa, The Landmark Mandarin.
